I hear a lot of people just being plain mean. For the past year I've avoided a lot of comedy because it has taken on (and/or I've become more sensitive to) a mean-spirited edge. I'm not sure where the line is between important biting comedic commentary and being mean, I think there is a place/need for pointing out life's absurdities. But kindness is important, and people are people first - nuanced, contradictory, imperfect, insightful, and with a particular experience of life and the world that gives them a point of view unique to them.
